From December to May, we accept film submissions and are looking for films of ALL lengths and in all genres, produced AFTER January 1st of the previous Festival edition year — so, if you’re submitting to the 2020 festival, films must have been produced after January, 2019.

We require EDMONTON Premiere status only.  SUBMIT your ‘cinematic baby’ to Alberta’s original international film festival.  EIFF only accepts films submitted online, through our submission partners.

SHORT FILMMAKERS… EIFF is your final OSCAR® Qualifying Festival of the year! We announce the two (2) OSCAR® qualifying SHORT films in the LIVE ACTION and ANIMATION categories on or before SUNDAY, Sept. 27. The application deadline to AMPAS (The Academy) is 5pm PT on THURSDAY, Oct. 1.

– Your Alberta mailing address; or
– For filmmakers who no longer live here, but have Alberta roots (ie. you grew up here, you attended school or shot your film here), please explain your Alberta-ness in your COVER LETTER.

ALUMNI Filmmakers: You had a film programmed at EIFF in the past 5 years (2015-2019)? That makes you ALUMNI, and eligible for a FULL FEE WAIVER!
