EIFF only accepts films submitted online through our FilmFreeway.
We announce the award-winning films in the Live Action and Animation categories by October 1st. As an Oscar® qualifying festival (for short films), this gives filmmakers enough time to apply and submit to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS)
Please provide in your cover letter your Alberta mailing address; or, for filmmakers who no longer live here but have Alberta roots (i.e. you grew up here, attended school, or shot your film here), please explain your Alberta-ness in your cover letter.
If you had a film programmed at EIFF in the past five years, that makes you alumni – and eligible for a full fee waiver! E-mail us the title of your film and the year it screened at EIFF, and our team will e-mail you a waiver code.
